The Long Run is the first project to allow all sides affected by gang life to have their voices heard-- because gang violence is now a national and international problem, particularly in Los Angeles, considered the "Gang Capital of the World".

"The Long Run" explores the stories of youth affected by gang violence, either as former gang members or victims-- and the experiences of the community-based gang intervention specialists, urban peace activists, politicians, law enforcement, researchers and all those affected by gang life.

Because gang violence has social, political, economic and cultural roots, it will require a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach to reduce or eradicate it. This film will delve into proven and possible methods of providing jobs, treatment, healing practices, political consciousness and more to turn around the most troubled young people and help them move on to leading productive lives.

Now is the time to stop the billions of dollars spent on unsuccessful suppression and to put the money into programs to help get the troubled, disaffected and abandoned youth off the streets. They are our future.
